Accreditation standards
Standards are the foundation of the accreditation program. Standards are developed to be flexible enough to apply to different facility operations and rigorous enough to safeguard patients.
The goal of the standards is to deliver safety and quality requirements that practitioners consider legitimate. Standards development will:
- reflect current practice
- incorporate best-available scientific evidence
- involve subject matter experts

Standards development
Accreditation standards contain general standards that are similar across the programs and specific technical standards for each diagnostic service. The standards are updated regularly with all technical standards reviewed within a four-year cycle.
Each program within the DAP has their own set of accreditation standards
The DAP has dedicated staff working on standard development. They work closely with the DAP advisory committees to ensure the DAP standards are up to date and meeting international requirements.
