National Indigenous Peoples Day
Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to celebrate the history, art, traditions, and cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
To mark this day, the College has released a two-part episode of its new podcast, Connecting the Dots, which highlights practical suggestions for breaking down systemic barriers and providing Indigenous patients with culturally safe care.
One of the core concepts in the College’s Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility and Anti-Racism practice standard is building knowledge through education. Registrants have a responsibility to learn about Indigenous Peoples and Canada's colonial history, and how this history has impacted generations of Indigenous patients.
The aim of this episode is to support registrants with building their knowledge as they take time to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day and National Indigenous History Month.
