Progress report on complaints process review recommendations
CPSBC has released its first progress report on how it is meeting the recommendations from the critical review of its formal complaints process.
The critical review was conducted by the Castlemain Group, which specializes in research, engagement, and collaboration with Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations. The review provided eleven recommendations on how to make the CPSBC formal complaints process more accessible and culturally safe for Indigenous Peoples.
Over the last year, CPSBC has developed and started operationalizing an implementation plan towards meeting the recommendations. Much of the implementation work in the progress report will be a multi-year effort. While it will take time and effort to revamp the complaints process, it is necessary to address the harmful impacts of racism towards Indigenous patients in the health-care system.
