PPEP assessors
Assessors conduct assessments to ensure registrants are meeting an acceptable standard of practice. Guided by a quality improvement approach, assessors offer collegial support and may suggest opportunities for professional development.
Types of assessors
Assessors have completed a peer assessment and were recognized for providing quality patient care. They complete assessor training, hold a full licence, are clinically current, and in good standing with the College. PPEP assessors reside throughout the province and vary in demographics, practice scopes and backgrounds.
Assessors provide feedback on the assessment components:
- multi-source feedback
- prescribing profile review
- chart review
- peer interview
During the assessment process, assessors are:
- guided by the College practice standards and professional guidelines
- guided by the PPEP assessment standards
- provided a copy of the Peer Assessor Guide to follow throughout the assessment process
- supplied with report templates to ensure all participants are evaluated using the same standard criteria
MDR assessors are health-care professionals who have expertise in medical device reprocessing as well as infection prevention and control.
MDR assessors evaluate all aspects of MDR in the community-based office while providing feedback to clinic staff as needed.

The PPEP is committed to creating an environment of continuous quality improvement and ongoing professional development for peer assessors.
Assessors are provided with individualized feedback reports, participate in assessor networks meetings and attend an educational assessor conference.
